BREAKING NEWS: Court extends injunction on PS3 jailbreak

3 September 2010

The Federal Court today extended an interim interlocutory injunction to prevent the sale and distribution of the “PSJailbreak” mod chip for the Sony Playstation 3 games console.  The parties involved in the case consented to orders requiring the four alleged distributors of the device to hand over to Sony’s lawyers all mod chips in their possession, and any which they obtain in future.  The injunction will remain in place until the parties return to Court for further argument (currently no date is set).

See our earlier post here.

UPDATE: IP Whiteboard’s Patrick Gunning talks to the Sydney Morning Herald on the possible legal arguments available to the parties here
