We are excited to share the fact that King & Wood Mallesons has been named as one of the Global Competition Review’s “Global Elite”, having been ranked as one of the world’s top 20 competition practices.
The GCR’s annual review analyses over 300 competition practices across the world and identifies the firms that perform consistently well on a global stage and take on the most difficult and contentious cases.
KWM was ranked in four jurisdictions in the review – Australia, China, the UK and Germany – with GCR noting that the firm’s Australian and Chinese practices are its “strongholds”.
GCR noted that:
- KWM was counsel on more than a dozen multi-billion dollar mergers, with more than half of its deals receiving unconditional clearance in Australia or China;
- KWM has surpassed four of its counterparts that are consistently ranked in the top 20; and
- the result was all the more impressive without any US presence.
In response to the review, Simon Holmes (KWM’s global coordinator of Competition, Trade & Regulatory) said: “We are proud to have been included among the world’s most prestigious firms in competition and antitrust law. As our clients expand their horizons, our international platform combined with local knowledge is able to help us navigate risk and domestic policies that shape the changing global competition landscape for our clients. This international recognition confirms the quality, breadth and depth of our antitrust offering in key markets and on a global scale.”

KWM received a similar accolade in GCR’s Australian review in August 2015. Read our previous post here.
